Juan Jose Sanchez – An expressionist and environmentalist

One of our most popular artists is Juan Jose Sanchez. He has a unique and recognizable style that is very aesthetically pleasing. Sanchez’s artwork can brighten any room and truly make you feel like you just stepped into the Islands forests.

Juan Jose Sanchez was born in Rio Verde, La Vega, Dominican Republic in 1961. Sanchez says his appreciation for art started at the young age of 12. He had the opportunity to attend the National School of Fine arts in Santo Domingo, where he graduated with a degree in fine arts. Sanchez has a passion for nature and is a self-proclaimed environmentalist. He particularly finds himself drawn to painting landscapes of flora and fauna. His one of a kind shading technique helps to achieve the vanish lines and tonal degradations you see in many of his works. Many of his bird paintings even get mistaken for being photographs!

Sanchez has also participated in many group exhibitions through out his career.

We recently went into a local assisted living facility to redecorate their building with some upgraded home décor and they have had such a great response. We sat down to interview our client to see just what she thought of their office’s new face-lift.

1.How would you describe the atmosphere of the room that was redecorated with Juan Jose Sanchez’s artwork?

• • “Relaxing/Calming”

2. What kind of response have you gotten from your clients when they see the updated room?

• • “The room brightens up the building, it’s very enjoyable, it helps people to feel in one with nature.”

3. Have you seen a difference in the clients and workers morale while being in the presence of Juan Jose Sanchez’s artwork?

• • “This room used to barely be used… now I walk by and there is always at least one person if not 8 or 9 people sitting in that room!”

4. What are some words that come to mind when you look at Juan Jose Sanchez’s artwork?

• • “Bright, peace, thoughtful, talent, beautiful, amazing.”

5. If you could say one thing to Juan Jose Sanchez what would it be?

• • “Thank you for helping put a smile on my residents and staffs faces. Thank you for impacting our lives!”
