When you were a child you would see on TV and read about other countries around the world. Wasn’t it tough to imagine other landscapes or ways of life other than the one you’re used to? That’s where Artlicity comes into play. We help spread the liveliness and creativity of the Caribbean to the rest of the world.
Even with our nightly news and knowledge of places, like the Dominican Republic (DR), it’s still hard to imagine everyday life there. What is the daily weather like? Do their children get picked up by school buses? Do they have Walmart pick-up? Or a big one, HOW STRONG IS THE WIFI?
Artlicity may not answer all these questions but it does connect you with the people that live their everyday lives in this paradise.
When someone creates a work of art, they put a little of themselves into each brushstroke. Whatever the artist may be experiencing in their life, whether their car broke down that day or they got a winning lottery ticket, his or her emotion shows through their work.
The Girl on the Beach – Cesar Germosén
Where are you right now? Are you at work? Is there a project due today that you’ve been procrastinating on? I bet you wish you were on the beach with the sun shining on your skin and breeze through your hair.
The Haitises (40×60) – Juan Jose Sanchez
Artlicity is your escape from staring at a blank wall dreaming about it, now you can picture it.
Artlicity brings a piece of the Islands and their lifestyle to your living room or office connecting you with the people that call the DR home. Need proof? Search in Google images, Colón Park Cathedral. Does it look something like this?
Colón Park Cathedral Background – Juan Jose Sanchez
This a painting of Colón Park in the capital of the Dominican Republic, Santos Domingo. Santo Domingo is the oldest established city in Western Hemispherefounded by Europeans. In fact, what the painting doesn’t show is the statue of Christopher Columbus. It rests directly in front of this building.
We live in a society where we give to charity groups a little money here and there not truly knowing where that money is going. Artlicity gives you that chance to support people directly in earning money doing something they love. Some of our artists finished art school with no house or car. They walked everywhere they needed to go. Now because of Artlicity, some have earned enough money to have somewhere to call home instead hopping from one friend’s couch to another. Some now have vehicles so they can drive to the market and not have to carry everything back. It’s YOU, our customers, that make a difference by purchasing artwork and beautifying your space.
Did you know….?! One US dollar is roughly 52 Dominican Pesos?! It’s crazy to think of the impact you could have on one individual household.
So, let me stop you right there. Artlicity isn’t just about making money. Artlicity is about giving people chances that they would not have otherwise. It’s about employing people in a company that they are excited to work for, it’s about connecting people on a global scale, and it’s about sharing a love for art and creativity.
Purchasing a piece of art isn’t just another sale, it’s helping someone grow. Everyone here at Artlicity is family. From our Marketing to production, from production to web development, from web development to our artists; we’re a family and we welcome you to join us.
