Born in August 1994, José Javier Contreras showed an interest in art from a very young age. His formal training began at 10 years old, and 14 years later his passion and technique have developed into a style all his own, and what a style it is!
José’s paintings blend different styles, taking familiar realistic figures and adding a splash of surrealism to the composition. With works such as “The Gallop,” “Yellow Bird,” and “Pet Cats,” his love of animals is clear for all to see. This October, in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month, we are excited to release a limited-edition pink version of José’s “The Northern Owl.” With every purchase of the pink version of “The Northern Owl,” Artlicity will donate an 11”x14” of the painting to a breast cancer survivor! Make sure to check out this limited-edition print, as well as José’s other works on Artlicity! You can find José on Instagram (pecontart) and see dozens of posts showcasing his art and the process he uses to create it. This young artist has a bright future, so be sure to follow him to see where his creative paths take him! |
